Collaborate with an Artist to Make Learning Come Alive

Wondering how to make learning come alive in your school? Think about collaborating with a local professional artist to work on a project or residency with your students.

Your students' creative experience can take many forms. Where to begin?

The first step is finding an artist to collaborate with. A good place to start is the Artists in the Classroom Directory. This BC-wide directory has just been updated to include many new artists, working in a variety of artistic disciplines, including visual arts, theatre, storytelling, music, dance and more.

These artists are skilled in their craft and have a specific interest in working on projects with young people. Many artists listed in the Artists in the Classroom Directory have experience working in schools or on projects funded by Artists in the Classroom grants.

Also be sure to learn more about Artists in the Classroom grants to help fund your project! AIC grants can fund up to 70% of total project costs. Grants of up to $3,500 for small to medium scale projects, and grants of up to $10,000 for large scale projects are available. The next deadline to apply is October 15, 2015.

Artists interested in joining the Artists in the Classroom Directory are invited to apply by December 1, 2015.
