Taking it to the Street is a cross-curricular, multi-grade, inquiry-based project that takes students to experience the Vancouver Biennale International Public Art installations.
Tiana Blouin and Jessica Eguia have developed a set of curriculum guides for ten Biennale installations in collaboration with the staff and students of Kings George Secondary and Vancouver Biennale. They will be leading follow-up workshops for Grade 6-12 teachers to expand understanding and application of the curriculum.
Vancouver Biennale curriculum and lesson plans are designed to encourage active inquiry-based learning that focus on the 2009-2011 art installations around Metro Vancouver. Moving curriculum topics into the community stimulates a sense of real inquiry both for teachers and students.
The workshops will be held in late September / early October. For more information and to register for a workshop, visit the Professional Development Opportunities age of the Vancouver School Board website or download the flyer here.
