ArtStarts is Hiring! Job Posting for Fund Development Manager

ArtStarts in Schools is looking for a talented and experienced Fund Development Manager to build and nurture relationships with individuals and organizations to help them understand our cause and take part in making an impact.


This is a new position at ArtStarts, and we are looking for someone who can show initiative and confidence to pave the way. This role is key to ensuring that young people across BC have opportunities to activate learning through the arts.

This is a full-time salaried position that reports directly to the Executive Director.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall responsibilities:

  • Directing and implementing the Development Plan in line with the organization's Strategic Plan
  • Diversifying revenue by increasing Individual Giving and Corporate Sponsorship
  • Writing compelling grant applications and other targeted proposals to support the needs identified across program areas
  • Monitoring and responding to trends in the art, education and not-for-profit sectors
  • Researching and recommending new fund development opportunities
  • Designing social media fund development campaigns
  • Promoting and managing facility rentals and third-party events
  • Soliciting in-kind support across program areas
  • Managing donor relations, recognition, acknowledgement and stewardship
  • Building Board engagement with fund development
  • Tracking all development activity through DonorPerfect database

Immediate Goals: Seeking a new Corporate Sponsor for the ArtStarts Gallery and securing major funding for our Infusion program.

Long-term Goals: Diversifying revenue with an emphasis on individual giving and corporate sponsorship as well as building Board engagement in Fund Development efforts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role you will have:

  • Three to five years of fund development experience
  • A strong belief that art and creativity play an important role in educating young people
  • A keen interest in exploring your own creativity to make your work stand out
  • Familiarity with the local philanthropic community, especially individuals, corporations and foundations interested in supporting children, art and education
  • Advanced research skills (experience with Grant Connect an asset)
  • Strong analytical skills and interest in working with data
  • Experience with social media fund development campaigns
  • Camera skills and DIY video skills to capture visual stories that demonstrate impact
  • Confidence acting as a spokesperson for ArtStarts
  • Stellar administration skills to manage and organize information efficiently
  • An open attitude and the ability to think in terms of “Yes, and…” rather than “Yes, but…”
  • High level of intrinsic motivation with focused attention on delivering results

  • Sample work - Submit one of the following:

1. An existing or mock sponsorship request letter or donor thank you letter that you wrote; OR

2. A description of a fund development campaign that you played a lead role in (include online links if applicable); OR

3. Any other sample that illustrates your skills and experience in fund development.
