Meet a Community Art Star: Beatriz Ignacio

Meet a Community Art Star: Beatriz Ignacio

"Meet a Community Art Star" is a regular feature showcasing ArtStarts' amazing group of volunteers who are passionate, enthusiastic arts champions. Read more posts in this series.

Beatriz Ignacio is one of our amazing Special Event Assistants. She moved here from the Philippines two years ago to pursue a career in Design. She's a graphic designer by day, and all-round crafter by night. Aside from art and design, she enjoys cycling and finding the best sushi restaurants around the city.

How do you connect yourself to creativity in your day-to-day life?

To stay connected creatively, I always make it a point to experience new environments, whether it's attending a cultural festival around town or simply taking a new bike route in my spare time. Observing all the colours, patterns and forms in my natural surroundings never fails to amaze and inspire me in every aspect of my life.

Could you tell us about a memory that you have from school that has had an impact on you?

I fondly remember working on group projects with amazing and creative people! Some people often hate group projects, but I for one loved them (most of the time)! The best ideas would always come up after brainstorming with a number of people having their own perspectives and backgrounds.

Why do you volunteer?

I volunteer specifically at ArtStarts because I truly believe in its cause to help encourage creativity for the young minds of the future. It's such a great way to meet other people and join as a community to help shape creative confidence in the youth.

What else do you enjoy doing here in Vancouver?

One of my favourite things to do is cycling in Stanley Park! I also enjoy attending different Meetups, staying updated with design trends out there, and meeting equally amazing people who are interested in the same things I'm interested in.

Thank you, Bea!
