Job Posting: Manager of Finance

ArtStarts in Schools is seeking a Manager of Finance to join our team for a one year contract. This is a temporary full-time position starting in June 2015. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Finance is responsible for financial oversight of the organization, including: preparing financial statements, maintaining cash controls, managing payroll and benefits, supporting the preparation of budgets and financial reports, managing annual audits, and supporting the Executive Director and Board on fiduciary matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary education in a relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years of financial experience with preference given to those with not-for-profit experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create monthly financial statements including project allocations
  • Maintain accurate systems of financial control
  • Supervise bookkeeper and prepare all financial transactions for entry into Simply Accounting
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are met: WCB, Receiver General, Revenue Canada
  • Prepare financial reports to funders
  • Oversee and manage cash flow
  • Administer payroll and benefits
  • Manage Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
  • Manage billing and reconcile accounts
  • Manage annual Audit process including year-end completed financial statements
  • Participate as a member on the Finance Committee
  • Manage charitable receipting through DonorPerfect software

TO EXCEL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting practices, funder requirements and experience with budgeting, generating financial statements and cash flows
  • High ethical standards, mature judgement, and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive issues in a professional manner
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of Simply Accounting and experience with DonorPerfect
  • Positive demeanour and open attitude to take on multiple tasks and support the team
  • Superb communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships
  • Advanced administrative skills to manage and organize information efficiently
