Kids love dance but few of them know that professional dancers train like Olympic athletes or that studies link dancing to brain development. As Vancouver Island's premier professional ballet company, Ballet Victoria has been enlightening youth since 2002 on the benefits of dance to physical and mental fitness, self-esteem and appreciation for the arts. Under the direction of acclaimed artistic director and choreographer Paul Destrooper, Ballet Victoria continues to captivate audiences of all ages.
Destrooper's genius for interpretive movement portrayed near avant-garde theatrics.
Ballet Victoria's all about continually tossing choreographed art onto the stage, chucking raw emotion into each piece. Peter Rusland, Cowichan New Leader

Teachers and students alike are frequently surprised at how fascinating ballet is, especially for those who have never seen ballet before. Through demonstrations and performances, professional dancers show students the techniques and training behind ballet. We explain the "art of line", flow and dynamics of choreographic sequences. By the end, students have a greater appreciation for dance. More importantly, girls and boys leave with an enthusiasm to participate in this healthy and positive activity.
