Welcome to Our New Program Coordinator, Laura Aliaga!

We're very excited to welcome Laura Aliaga to the ArtStarts team as our new Program Coordinator.

You might recognize Laura from ArtStarts events, including ArtStarts at River Market and the ArtStarts Showcase and Conference, where this year she hosted the Contact Room. In her new role as Program Coordinator, Laura will still run ArtStarts at River Market, as well as join us in the office full-time where she will focus on our Booking and Touring service, the ArtStarts Showcase and Conference and the AIE grant to school districts.

Laura earned a BA from UBC with a major in Art History and specialization in Art Education, and also has extensive experience in the business world including marketing, communications and administration. She has always stayed involved with arts for young people, including volunteering at ArtStarts on Saturdays and the Vancouver School Board's Visions 180 program, and working as a Museum Educator at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Laura also serves on the board of the Eastside Culture Crawl.

In her new role at ArtStarts, Laura is excited about getting to know the Artists on Tour. She still remembers the excitement she felt as a kid when it was time to go to the gym to watch a school performance, and is happy to a part of making those experiences happen for students today. She loves witnessing the joy and confidence that the arts bring to children, and is proud to act as a bridge between artists and young people.

We would also like to congratulate two ArtStarts team members: Rekha Pavanantharajah is now Program Manager, heading up Booking and Touring, and Sarah Kim starts a new role as Development Manager, where she will be focusing on resource development, program evaluation, advocacy and outreach.
