Last week, we received a surprise visit from a student from Haida Gwaii who was part of the Understanding the Tidal Pool Through Metaphor project, an Artist in the Classroom residency project currently featured in our Dwellings: From Seabeds to Cityscapes exhibition at the ArtStarts Gallery.
In this project, students explored the inter-tidal zone in their local surroundings and using metaphor as an art form, they chose one creature to focus on and also sculpted it out of clay.
Paisley was really excited to see her piece on the wall — a big orange clay starfish — and also all the documentation where she saw her school friends, teachers and other pieces they made.
Thanks for visiting, Paisley! We're proud to have your artwork on display at the gallery!
