Free Weekend Workshops
Looking for free things to do in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland with kids?
ArtStarts is pleased to offer free arts-based weekend activities and workshops for kids and families. These events feature 45-minute, multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workshops with some of the best children's artists.
ArtStarts on Saturdays at the ArtStarts Gallery in Vancouver has been so popular, we are now also offering these events on Sundays at River Market in New Westminster.
Admission is free. No registration necessary, but do come early as this is a popular program. Each 45-minute workshop takes place twice, at 11am and 1pm. Recommended for ages 5 and up, but all are welcome!

Exploring the Impossible
with Sheldon Casavant
Sheldon’s magic show is light-hearted and highly interactive. Objects will appear, disappear, and even float in the air. Magic is traditionally passed on from magician to magician, so Sheldon will even teach the secrets of some magic tricks to those in attendance. Sheldon’s contemporary style of magic has been appreciated around the world, from Canada to Japan.

with Julian Lawrence
Create an original 8–page mini-comic describing yourself, your family and your culture. An avid cartoonist since childhood, Julian Lawrence is an award-winning artist and illustrator specializing in comic books and filmmaking. Recommended for ages 6 to 12.
