Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2017

National Volunteer Week 2017

In the spirit of National Volunteer Week we wanted to thank all those who contribute so much to ArtStarts and local arts initiatives. This week, we celebrate our talented and diverse volunteers who have supported us with their creativity and passion throughout the year!

The ArtStarts Gallery is the first in Canada devoted exclusively to young people's art. Since the gallery opened in 2006, our exhibitions have celebrated the exciting artwork that emerges when students, educators and professional artists work together to deepen learning, creativity and community connections. We couldn't do all we do without the support of our amazing volunteers!

Volunteer positions at the ArtStarts Gallery include Gallery Assistant (greeting visitors, helping with tours, general administrative assistance) and Exhibition Assistant helping with the strike and installation of exhibitions of young people's artwork in the Gallery).

We also engage Knowledge Philanthropists as project-based volunteers who contribute their specialized, professional skills. There are opportunities for professionals across sectors to get involved in projects that support expanding the role of art in education for young people across BC. We are curently seeking Knowledge Philanthropists in the following sectors: IT professional (to assess and identify solutions for upgrading our database from the current MS Access platform to something more streamlined, integrated and stable), Public Relations professional (to build a PR campaign in line with our current strategic plan), Education professional (to advise on expanding our education programming in the ArtStarts Gallery).

Learn more about these volunteer opportunities.

This year, we created little videos of each of us saying thank you! We will be posting them throughout the week on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
