Find BC Artists for Artist Residencies in Schools

Are you a teacher looking to develop memorable learning experiences for your students? Do you want to incorporate the arts into your classroom, but are not sure where to start? Have you always wondered what an artist residency in your school might look like?

If any of the above resonate with you, our Artists in the Classroom Directory is a great place to get started.

ArtStarts' Artists in the Classroom Directory is an online resource where you can discover professional artists available to work with young people across BC. Working in a variety of disciplines, these artists are skilled in their craft and have a specific interest in working on projects with young people. Many artists listed in the AICD have experience working in schools or on projects funded by Artists in the Classroom grants.

This BC-wide directory has just been updated to include many new artists, working in a variety of artistic disciplines, including visual arts, theatre, storytelling, music, dance and more.

Explore the newly updated Artists in the Classroom Directory now!

Once you have found an artist to work with, we encourage you learn more about Artists in the Classroom grants to help fund your project. AIC grants can fund up to 70% of total project costs. Grants of up to $3,500 for small to medium scale projects, and grants of up to $10,000 for large scale projects are available. Upcoming deadlines to apply are May 27, 2016 or October 17, 2016, for projects taking place in the 2016-17 school year.

Artists interested in joining the Artists in the Classroom Directory are invited to apply by May 13, 2016, to join directory in July.
