The Gumboot Kids is a stop motion animation, mixed media TV series that airs in 180 countries including the CBC in Canada. Meet the creators of the Gumboot Kids, Tara Hungerford and Eric Hogan, as they take students through the filmmaking process, from story, to script, to shooting and editing your own videos. Hungerford and Hogan have written, directed and produced over 400 episode of television content for networks including CBC, Knowledge and TVO Kids. Students will go "behind-the-scenes" and learn how TV series is made, with a special emphasis on stop motion animation. Students will learn about the different roles that make up a film production team, from scriptwriter, to storyboard artist, cinematographer, animator, music composer and editor. The workshop includes a printable Bullet Journal with inspiration and prompts for young storytellers. A Q&A period will allow students to ask questions about filmmaking.

The Gumboot Kids' Live Show is a multi-media experience featuring Juno award-winning singer, Jessie Farrell, performing songs from the hit CBC Kids' series, The Gumboot Kids. Jessie is accompanied by an interactive multimedia presentation and special guest appearance from the series stars, Scout and Daisy. The students are encouraged to get up and dance and sing-along. The show has been winning hearts across Canada with its family friendly songs and gentle tone. The heart-centered show draws on the themes of nature connection, play and mindfulness.

The workshop looks at different forms of storytelling before students are taken behind-the-scenes to look at how a television series is made, with a special focus on stop-motion animation. The workshop fee includes a collection of six, autographed hardcover Gumboot Kids storybooks for the classroom or school library, and supplemental learning activities that teachers and students can enjoy before or after the workshop.
