These two award-winning percussionists are masters of their respective instruments and have shared a long musical friendship. Robin and Ben met at VCC while studying jazz music in 2004 and have been collaborating both on and off the stage since. As musicians and travelers they've had to learn how to listen and communicate in many ways. It has often been said that music is a universal language. Both Ben and Robin have found this to be true in their own travels. They invite students to join them to have musical conversations on instruments from around the globe, such as the djembe, conga, cajon, pandeiro, and doumbek. We also look at how we hear. What's the difference between listening and hearing? Can we hear with more than just our ears?
