One Woman Circus and the Students Stars (OWCSS) is a school-tested, popular, engaging performance featuring clown and klutz Filetta Fish who is in a quandary: how can she make the magic of the circus happen when she is a solo performer? The answer sits before her as Filetta invites spectators from the audience to become the stars of her circus. OWCSS unfolds as a series of juggling, unicycling and clown routines with hands-on participation from individuals and small groups who interact on stage with the performer. Teachers and students agree this show is a rare offering that truly appeals to K through Grade 7. Laughter and fun abound but post-show Q and As reveal wide student interest in the importance of training and growth mindset, underscoring commitment to personal excellence and understanding what it takes to present a difficult physical skill in a comedic fashion.
