For 40 years, Story Theatre has been inspiring imaginations and encouraging literacy by creating and touring theatre for children. Our company commissions new plays written by emerging Canadian playwrights with vibrant perspectives, which are then produced and presented for young audiences to enjoy in schools, libraries, and parks. More than 70% of our performances and workshops occur in small towns and rural villages. We tour our work across BC regularly with an understanding that access to the arts is intrinsic to a quality education. Story is part of each of us and we are all a part of the show.
I like Story Theatre because they make you disappear from you life and enter the story. It feels like you are experiencing everything they're telling you first hand. VERY creative.VERY fun. Ruby, Age 10, Victoria

Look forward to plenty of music, movement, and interactive fun in this brand new play experience based on Aesop's fable The Lion and Mouse. The Very First Circus by Erin Michell is a lively participatory performance for primary ages with original music by Mac Hunter. Larry the Lion dreams of performing under the Big Top. But he can't do it by himself, he needs his neighbours to join in! As Larry searches the jungle for other animals to perform dazzling circus tricks, the audience is asked to participate in acts of balance and bravery, too. An intimate and participatory performance that celebrates friendship and reaching for new heights. Adapted for outdoor performances, max audience of 40.
