ArtStarts in Schools Director of Administration Moving On

At the end of April, Emily Beam, our Director of Administration, will be departing from ArtStarts. She has accepted a new role as Director of Operations at HUB Cycling.

Starting as Grants Manager in 2015, Emily became the Director of Programs in 2018 and moved into Director of Administration in 2020. Over the past six years, Emily has brought analysis, strategy, and relationship-building to her roles. She supported the team to apply an anti-oppression mandate to our programs, developed new IT solutions for our administrative systems, and raised half a million dollars for a new elevator.

“ArtStarts has been a place of learning and growth for me. I have learned that just because I like spreadsheets and numbers doesn’t mean I’m not creative. I have been challenged to look at our work and myself through an anti-oppression lens. And my leadership skills have developed with guidance from my colleagues. I am so proud of how this organization is constantly evolving and driving to enable transformational arts opportunities for young people in a way that centres equity and people.

I want to say ‘Thank You’ to all the current and former staff and community partners that I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the last six and a half years. Your collaborative, values-driven approach will be essential as the organization transitions to a co-leadership model in the coming months.”
