ArtStarts to Assume Responsibility of Infusion

ArtStarts in Schools is pleased to announce that it will be directing the future of Infusion: Arts in Education, a program created by 2010 Legacies Now, with support from the Province of British Columbia, as a legacy of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Infusion: Arts in Education is a professional learning program for artists and teachers focused on arts integration in grades K – 12 in schools across British Columbia. The program was created in 2009 with a focus on providing deep and lasting impact. Tools, resources and strategies are being developed to support the integration of the arts and other subject areas to enhance student learning in the classroom.

“We are very pleased to have ArtStarts in Schools further develop and promote the Infusion: Arts in Education program,” said Bruce Dewar, chief executive officer of 2010 Legacies Now. “Under the guidance of ArtStarts, Infusion will flourish, providing students with skills and experiences to improve their understanding of arts, culture, technology and other areas.”

ArtStarts will work to increase the program’s outreach and delivery, and position the program as a valuable resource to give young people the skills they need to thrive in today’s rapidly changing world.

“Promoting the arts in the classroom is one of the most accessible and powerful ways to build creative minds” explained Navida Nuraney, executive director of ArtStarts in Schools.

As part of the program transfer, ArtStarts will maintain the Infusion Community of Practice to share resources and strategies for integrating the arts into curriculum-based lessons and activities.

The transfer of Infusion to ArtStarts is part of 2010 Legacies Now’s efforts to ensure its programs and resources continue as community-based legacies. These transitions have enabled 2010 Legacies Now to evolve its mission to invest skills, expertise and funding directly in not-for-profit organizations to strengthen their ability to deliver social change. This work is being done under the organization’s new brand, LIFT Philanthropy Partners.
