This afternoon, ArtStarts staff joined protesters at the Vancouver Art Gallery in support of the fight against recent cuts to the Arts in BC. Concern and outrage was voiced by a number of noted figures in the Arts community.
Among the speakers was newly elected NDP MLA, Spencer Herbert. In his speech, he encouraged the community to continue its resistance against the devastating cuts, and to stand in solidarity to show the government that culture and art matter and are essential to civil society. Today''s protest was organized by the Alliance for Arts. ArtStarts staff members look forward to the next rally, where we will continue to show our support for those fighting against cuts to the Arts sector.
