Join ArtStarts' Artists in the Classroom Directory!

ArtStarts is now accepting applications to join our new and improved Artists in the Classroom Directory.

ArtStarts' Artists in the Classroom Directory (AICD) provides a list of practicing professional artists working in a variety of disciplines who have proven experience at delivering arts integrated projects with young people in a classroom setting. The AICD is a useful resource for educators, arts/community presenters, cultural programmers etc. interested in engaging artists with this range of experience. It is also a valuable self-promotion tool for artists looking for these types of opportunities.

Starting in January 2013, a new and improved AICD will be launched on the ArtStarts website replacing the current one and featuring an up to date list of professional artists available to lead classroom residency projects in BC schools.

Benefits to Artists
The artists accepted to the new directory will enjoy benefits such as an enhanced online profile; active promotion through mini-directories, ArtStarts blog, social media channels and e-newsletters; instant notification of job opportunities; discounts on ArtStarts professional development workshops and more.

Application Process
An application process is coming into effect. This will help us to ensure that the artists listed in the directory are skilled, qualified and available to deliver dynamic, arts integrated projects in schools. A committee made up of educators and artists will review all applications to determine artist suitability.

Fees
In order to manage the directory and provide increased service to artists listed, an annual fee of $50 is being introduced. You will also be asked to pay a one-time application fee of $25 at time of application.

Our aim in introducing these changes is to provide a directory that acts as a useful and up to date resource for those interested in hiring artists, as well as a comprehensive promotional tool for artists, ultimately resulting in increased awareness of and employment for those artists.
