Vancouver Draw Down was a day full of sunshine, creativity, art and — most of all — smiling faces.
A lot of those smiling faces have become part of ArtStarts... literally! Visitors took turns painting each others' portraits on our front windows, building a huge mural filled with the faces of our community.
Inside the gallery there were stations set up where people could take part in one of the Vancouver Draw Down Daily Drawing activities. With a timer set for five minutes, visitors took on various challenges, such as "Draw a flower with your eyes closed", "Drop a piece of yarn or string onto your paper, trace inside the loops, colour them in" or "Draw the first initial of your name then turn it into an imaginary creature".
Outside, a chalk garden exploding with colour quickly sprang up on the sidewalk.
Visitors also had a chance to explore our new exhibition, Defining Moments: Discovering Our Canadian Stories. We'll be hosting an opening event for the show on July 1st, Canada Day. Stay tuned for details!
Everyone we spoke to, no matter their age, was energized and inspired about creating art. Nothing could make us happier.
We've posted lots more photos from Vancouver Draw Down on Facebook! Check them out here.
