In response to the news of increased funding from BC Arts Council and the Province of BC for the Artists in Education and the Artists in the Classroom programs, ArtStarts is embarking on a series of outreach visits to various school districts across the province. The objective of these visits is to draw awareness and share information of these funding programs which can be leveraged to present exciting opportunities for young people to engage in quality artistic experiences all across BC.
Sarah and Rekha took a trip to Vancouver Island and over the course of 5 days they visited 7 school districts and managed to fit in 17 meetings. It was a jam packed itinerary to say the least!
The trip reinforced the value of meeting face-to-face and making personal connections. It was energizing to hear about the creativity occurring in each district and exciting to share the news of increased funding as this will result in increased activity.
Stay tuned for the next chapter of our outreach visits, which will be to Dawson Creek (SD 59), Fort St. John (SD 60) and Fort Nelson (SD 81).
