This week is National Volunteer Week, time to appreciate the many ways volunteers make a difference in our society. At ArtStarts, we believe that the arts are a catalyst for creating innovative, engaged and contributing members of society. Young people are the future, but they are also the present. And many young people want to make a difference right now, regardless of their age.
We're excited to introduce a new volunteering program at ArtStarts to engage people of all ages. Family Volunteering is a great way for families to spend quality time together while also giving back to the community. We understand that many families want the opportunity to spend meaningful time together, but there are fewer and fewer chances to do so with a busy schedule. Volunteering together at the ArtStarts Gallery is a great way to spend quality time together on weekends while also providing kids with useful skills and experience.
The ArtStarts Gallery has new hours, and is now open every Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
Family Volunteers provide exhibition tours to the public, assist with special events, lead gallery activities and help out with light administrative duties. Family Volunteering is open to adults (parents, guardians, brother, sisters, extended family members and even mentors) with a maximum of 2 kids over the age of 8. Family Volunteers commit to one three-hour Saturday shift per month. Learn more about Family Volunteering at artstarts.com/volunteer
As this is a brand new program, we don't have photos of Family Volunteers yet. But we wanted to share a few snapshots of some of the fun, creative events that take place at ArtStarts on the weekend, and say thanks to our volunteers to help out with ArtStarts on Saturdays and special events.
