June 26, 2010
Roaring, stomping, clapping, dancing. Kids and parents had lots of fun acting like monsters at our latest ArtStarts on Saturdays workshop! Kathryn Ricketts stopped by the gallery space on June 26th to lead two interactive storytelling workshops based on Maurice Sendak's classic tale, Where the Wild Things Are.
Kids learned that Sendak based the monsters in his book on his relatives who would come to his house for dinner each week. After the workshop, in which participants acted out parts of the story, everyone, including parents, took part in a silly dance party!
Thanks to Kathryn for a great workshop! This was our last ArtStarts on Saturdays event for the summer, but we will resume holding workshops on the last Saturday of the month in September.
Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall!
Many thanks to the TELUS Vancouver Community Board and the Host a City Happening Program for their generous sponsorship of the ArtStarts on Saturdays series.
