Cherniavsky's Mr Music Fund

Cherniavsky's Mr Music Fund encourages and assists young people to attend quality live performances of classical and traditional music, opera and ballet.

Qualifying performances include recognized orchestral and opera companies; choral events; classical and modern ballet; chamber music; classical soloists in concert or recital. Please note that in-school performances and workshops do not qualify for this funding.

Who Can Apply?

Kindergarten to Grade 12 educators, school administrators and PAC Representatives in British Columbia are eligible to apply for this grant.

Grant Amount

Please note that the funding formula was revised for 2019.

Grants of up to $500 are available to support schools in purchasing tickets for students. Grants may cover up to 70% of the total event cost, with a maximum subsidy of $6 per ticket.

How to Apply

The grant deadline has now passed for the 2019/20 school year. Please check back in summer/fall 2020 for the next intake.

If you need to follow-up on your 2019/20 application, email [email protected] and reference your grant number.

Each year ArtStarts receives more applications than can be funded, so grants are distributed by lottery. Successful applicants will be notified within 3 months of the deadline. Please submit your receipts when you have them to expedite the reimbursement process, although a submission of receipts does not guarantee that you have been awarded the grant.
