We're Hiring! Job Posting for an Education Coordinator


The Education Coordinator is responsible for helping to create a culture of arts based learning through our gallery and public programming with young people, artists, educators, and families. Reporting to the Director of Programs with oversight from the Executive Director, the Education Coordinator will support ArtStarts by organizing and coordinating curatorial aspects of gallery exhibitions, public programming, and professional learning through collaboration with artists, educators, and ArtStarts staff.


  • Support the Director of Programs to develop the curatorial vision for ArtStarts Gallery Exhibitions and Programs.
  • Organize curatorial logistics
  • Manage Gallery reception
  • Work with the Gallery Coordinator & Preparator to install exhibitions
  • Work with the Communications Manager to create content for didactics and all marketing materials
  • Manage the photography and documentation of exhibitions and programs
  • Support the design and lead delivery of school tours and workshops
  • Support the design and lead delivery of public programs
  • Manage the bookings of school and public programs
  • Provide administrative and facilitation support for Learning Labs
  • Provide administrative support for professional development workshops for teachers
  • Support the facilitation of Creativity Unpacked workshops
  • Serve as point person for student practicum inquiries and placements
  • Represent ArtStarts at Community Events


To excel in this role you will have:

  • Post secondary training and/or previous work experience in a combination of art practices (open to any art forms), education, and community engagement
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in arts based educational program design and delivery with public institutions
  • Proficient communication skills; verbal (workshop delivery) and writing (gallery and educational resources)
  • Deep knowledge of contemporary art practices linked to pedagogy and a passion for promoting the role of the arts in education
  • Advanced administrative skills to manage and organize information efficiently with experience with MS Suite
  • Graphic design skills a plus with experience using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience engaging and working with culturally diverse communities.

This is a regular full-time position (35 hours/week) with a salary range of $40,000 – $42,000. Additional benefits include three weeks of vacation, a professional development allowance and extended health benefits.
